Aldershot Shiva Temple serves food to 85 mothers on the occasion of Mata Tirtha Aunsi

Aldershot – A luncheon and service program was held at the Shiva Temple in Aldershot on Sunday, on the auspicious occasion of Mata Tirtha Aunsi. 

The event was attended by approximately 85 mothers from Aldershot, Farnborough and the surrounding areas, who were invited to a luncheon. The mothers who participated were of various ages, with the oldest mother being 87 years old.

After lunch, volunteer nurses from the Farnborough Sai Center and members of the Shiva Temple provided the mothers with services such as special massages of various parts of the body, nail clipping, hair styling, and oiling.

The program, which was started by the temple’s guru, Pandit Raj Kumar Dhital, informed about the importance and origin of Mata Tirtha Aunsi. Other temple Pandit Shiva Ballabh Regmi, Patron and Trustee Vachaspati Regmi, Patron and Trustee Rohit Gurung, social worker Shanti Thapa, Uday Kunwar, Treasurer Niraj Tiwari, Co-Treasurer Kishore Gurung, Member Anita Gurung, Member Rupesh Kafle, First Lady of Tamudhim Britain Kamala Gurung, President of Tamudhim Britain and Patron of the temple Jhumkaji Gurung, GRNC President and Patron of the temple Man Gurung, BFBS Gorkha Radio’s operator Yograj Rai, local social worker Dr. Vishal Gurung, businessman Bimal Gurung, Gorkha Chautari Coordinator Captain Bishnu Shrestha and others were present.

From arranging materials to catering and service work, volunteers from Farnborough Sai Centre were the main support. Sai Centre volunteers are always at the forefront of such services. 

The ceremony was conducted by the temple’s general secretary, Sushma Gurung. GRNC president Man Gurung introduced the mothers to Tai Chi exercises that are beneficial for their health.

While artist Paul Gurung performed Kathak dance at the event, Pratima Sunuwar mesmerized everyone with her unique dance.

Many mothers became emotional when program chair Bikram Bhattarai asked mothers to close their eyes and remember their mothers’ faces. He said that this program, organized for the first time by a Shiva temple, sent a great message to express respect and devotion to mothers.
